Structure
Contact details and professional qualifications should be clearly evident at the beginning of your CV. Always work backwards, listing your most recent employer first. Provide a brief introduction to the company including industry sector and turnover. Be clear and accurate with dates of employment and job titles. For each role, use bullet points to list your responsibilities followed by a section of bullet points to explain your key achievements. Education, interests and references should be at the end as well as personal details including; marital status, date of birth, driving licence and eligibility to work in the UK.
Cover Letter
When sending your CV to a potential employer or recruitment consultancy, provide a brief introduction as to your current situation, reason for looking for a new role, salary expectations and summary of your skills.
When applying for a specific role, tailor the cover letter to highlight your areas of knowledge and expertise relative to the requirements detailed on the role specification.
